I am doing Master of Technology in the trade of Applied Geophysics and will be completed my course by june,2009.

My goal is to pursue a career in the field of geophysics and to contribute my whole knowledge in the growing Oil industry. An opportunity of job in the world leading companies is an important first step towards achieving this objective.

Being interested in Geophysics I did internships in companies like Cairn Energy India Pty Ltd. (Reservoir Development Department), in Schlumberger (SIS, Delhi) and in Halliburton Logging Services(HLS) where I got good exposure of the work culture in Oil Companies both in Service provider and E&P. In Cairn Energy my work included exposure to the basics of Hydrocarbon Exploration with a brief idea of Seismic, Petrophysics and Reservoir Modeling and in SIS my work included introductory training on software packages like GeoFrame, Petrel, Petrel RE, and Eclipse. The training included loading of well and seismic data, its interpretation followed by modeling and simulation of reservoir using different modules in each of the packages. In HLS my work included qualitative interpretation and quantitative evaluation of Petrophysical parameter from well log data.
I am presently undergoing my M.Tech dissertation work on the Determination of S-wave attenuation characteristics of Chamoli area under the guidance of Dr. Sagarika Mukhopadhyay.

I have done B.Sc in Physics (Hons.) from Hindu College, Delhi University. I have always been good in my studies. I secured 73.41% marks in my Under-Graduation and presently, in my Master’s, I have a CGPA of 8.28 on a 10 point scale.
The course structure which is a good balance of theory and practical knowledge and highly skilled faculty introduced me to the stimulating field of research. I got good exposure to subjects like Well logging, Seismic Prospecting, Reservoir Geophysics, Synthetic Seismogram, Gravity and Magnetic Prospecting, Electromagnetic Prospecting, Electrical Prospecting, Geophysical Signal Processing, Basic Geology, Principal of Geophysics, Numerical Modeling in Geophysics, Geophysical Inversion.
Numerous seminars and presentations in post-graduation were an added advantage to my coursework and helped in incrementing my confidence during orations.

I am also a recipient of Society of Exploration Geophysicists Foundation General Scholarship for my good scholastic performance and also I have been selected as being one of the 15 selected travel grant award winners for the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers Amsterdam Student Conference Program in June 2009.

Presently, I am the President of Student Chapter IIT-Roorkee of Society of Exploration Geophysicists (2008-09). I was the Co-Author in poster presentation on Geothermal Energy: Exploration, Exploitation and Economics in SPG Annual Meet, Hyderabad. Apart from my studies, I have been involved in extracurricular activities like playing cricket, billiards and taking active participation in various cultural events of my institute. In my spare time I study different magazines which keep me updated about the scenario of the world. I am a keen follower of English and Hindi music.
