Professional Experience
Lead the EOR/IOR in a PDVSA-Beicip Franlab, PDVSA-Cupet, Halliburton-Staatsolie interdisciplinary team in 9 projects with > 20 MMMBbl STOOIP. Those projects include reservoirs with a variety of viscosity-mobility ratios, depletion degrees and heterogeneity. Expectation of reserve increases >800 MMBbl was generated.
Advised the engineers of Integrated Studies and Operations Department in the implantation of ASP and Polymer Flooding project and the optimization of water flooding to increase >10% the recovery factor. Leaded the definition of injection schemes, surveillance program and the interpretation of laboratory and numerical simulation results.
Defined, planned and interpreted application of Organic Geochemistry to characterize sands continuity and allocation of commingled production in Lake Maracaibo basin; used water injected and water produced inorganic geochemistry to characterize reservoirs and surveillance of processes.
Design, planning and start up of 3 Departments, in different Divisions of the Oil and Gas Industry. Departments Activities: acquisition, development and deployment of Environmentally friendly Technologies. With achievement as 80% budget increment (7 MMUS$) in a year.
Original research about:
- Factors determining natural values in rivers, lakes and soils. Pollutants sources, abundance and distribution; self-purification processes.
- Coupled fluid flow and reactions: porosity and permeability modifications; mechanisms of release and accumulation of cations and anions; acid solutions effects.
- Polluted water remediation.
- Water-Reservoir compatibility analysis in oil fields: physical simulations.
- New chemical mixture formulation, i.e.: surfactants, polymers, emulsions, gels. Design and evaluation of pilot tests, at different scales, for volumetric and microscopy sweep efficiency improvement, as well as production water control.
