Machinery Section Manager

Manager of the company department of mechanical rotating equipment specialists.

Since December 2013 machinery section manager at Casale S.A. located in Lugano, Switzerland (Engineering company operating in the design and revamping of ammonia, methanol, melamine and urea plants).
The undersigned, reporting to the Company Plant Engineering Department Head, is responsible for the management of a team (Section) of five machinery specialists being all in possession of the university degree in mechanical engineering and fulfilling the following activities:
• At the bidding stage of the projects the Section has the responsibility to select the proper rotating machines to accomplish the duty and performances requested by the various plant process applications. The handled rotating equipment is the one commonly present in modern oil & gas plants, refineries and fertilizer plants.
• During the executive phase of the projects the Section has the responsibility to buy and, subsequently, carry out the follow up of the supplies, reviewing vendor’s engineering drawings and attending machine testing and installation.
• In the Section due attention is also given to:
• the continuous improvement of our working processes through the internal assignment and development of lesson-learned projects;
• the continuous updating of our requisition specifications keeping them aligned with the international standards;
• the standardisation of our internal processes (e.g. technical alignment, evaluation, site survey, etc...) in order to reduce the related working hours and costs;
• the shearing of the individual specialists knowledge arranging internal monthly meetings during which all the specialists are asked to present a case study.
• The undersigned is specifically responsible for:
• the estimation of the Section engineering costs to be accounted in the overall company proposals for the development of new plants or revamping of existing plants;
• the assignment and coordination of the project tasks inside of the Section in consideration of the specific knowledge, aptitudes and workload of each team member;
• the progress verification of the engineering activities versus the overall foreseen project progress and spent engineering hours;
• the attendance as representative of the machinery section during inter-department project meetings.

Studies qualification

Graduated in Mechanical Engineering, energy and thermodynamic branch, at the Polytechnic University of Milan (Italy) in June 1996 with the final marks of 100/100.
