Prime Minister Kamal Ganzouri met on 31/12/2011 with visiting Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Karti in the presence of Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr and Sudanese Ambassador to Egypt Kamal Hassan Ali. The two sides exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest, said Amr after the meeting.
The two sides took up the agenda of a meeting of water ministers of the Nile Basin countries, which will review the framework agreement that was signed by six Nile Basin upstream countries. Egypt and Sudan did not sign the agreement. Amr added that Sudan will be among the countries that he would visit during his tour of Nile Basin countries next week.
On the other hand, Egyptian Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hisham Qandel said that meetings of the joint Egyptian-Sudanese-Ethiopian technical committee will be held on January 16-18 to evaluate the effect of the Ethiopian Millennium Dam on the downstream states.
