His Majesty King Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Rania left for Washington for talks with U.S. President Barack Obama on bilateral and regional issues. In their summit, the two leaders will tackle ways of cementing economic ties between Jordan and the United States in addition to developments in the Arab world and the region as well as prospects for achieving peace between the Palestinians and Israel on the basis of the two-state solution.
King Abdullah will brief Obama on Jordan's reform drive spearheaded by the King to fulfill the Jordanian people's aspirations to a better political and socio-economic future. The King's itinerary also includes talks with other senior administration officials, congressional leaders and political, economic and intellectual figures and members of the U.S. media. His Royal Highness Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein was sworn in as regent before cabinet members.
