Electricity Minister Hassan Younis met for the second time this week with head of Palestinian Energy Authority (PEA) Omar Katana to take up ways of increasing electricity supply to Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, Younis said that Egypt increased the amount of electricity supplied to Gaza to 22 megawatts to help ease a Palestinian energy shortage. A technical committee has been formed to discuss the possibility of increasing the capacity of electricity exported to Gaza to 27 megawatts for the second time running as a quick solution for the power crisis in the besieged strip until the power linkage project completes and the Palestinian power grid splits from the Israeli network. Younis said that supplying Palestine with electricity comes within the framework of the power sector efforts to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people. He added that studies on the technical standards of the power linkage project have completed. |
