Egypt Keen on Economic Cooperation with Philippines

Egypt is keen on maintaining political cooperation with the Philippines, a senior diplomat said. The Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Mohamed Hegazi met with Philippines' Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Erlinda Basilio on 17/7/2012 to discuss means of boosting bilateral relations. Talks took up means to increase the volume of trade exchange, Hegazi said in statements. He said they agreed on the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the commerce chambers here and in Manila. Regional developments also figured high at the talks, particularly where Syria, Sudan and the peace process are concerned, Hegazi noted.
