Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Mohamed Baha El-Din said on 3/4/2013 that Egypt lost more than two billion cubic meters of water annually due to industrial wastes, adding the lost water is sufficient to cultivate 400,000 feddans. The minister pointed out that the ministry has managed to develop and improve irrigation on 6800 feddans in Behira, Kafr El-Sheikh and El-Gharbia at LE 53 million as well as some canals are being improved of 76000 feddans at LE 51million and developing small canals of 10000 feddans at LE 49 million.
