Visitors to Egypt Allowed to Carry $10,000

Cairo International Airport Customs started on 13/04/2013 to amend Central Bank procedures to allow visitors entering Egypt to carry foreign currency with no limit, however, they should declare the amount of money in case it exceeds $10,000 or its equivalent in any other currency.

According to new amendments, the passenger can leave the country with foreign currency in a limit of ten thousand dollars or its equivalent in another foreign currencies. Non-Egyptians leaving Egypt, can carry back the remainder of money they declared upon arrival. Also, arrivals can keep foreign cash currency in the range of EGP5 thousands.

Shura Council has issued a law amending the foreign exchange law ratified by President Mohamed Morsi to be applicable immediately after publication in the Official Gazette.
