Iraq seeks the help of the US Treasury Department in tracing money-laundry schemes and tightening international procedures in order to prevent ISIL benefiting from such funds, a senior official said on 10/6/2015.
"International procedures must be tightened," stressed Iraqi Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari during his reception of Daniel Glaser, the Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing in the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the US Treasury Department. Zebari, in a statement issued by the finance ministry, also underlined significance of exchanging information on mechanisms enabling ISIL to receive these funds, either from domestic or foreign sources. The meeting comes a year after the major Iraqi city of Mosul being under control of the terrorist group. |
