Egypt and New Zealand signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint commercial committee to help beef up trade exchange between the two countries.
The MoU was signed by First Secretary of the Trade and Industry Ministry Saeed Abdullah and New Zealand Ambassador in Cairo Barney Riley. In a statement, the Trade and Industry Ministry said that the agreement aims at tapping new markets in New Zealand and backing joint economic cooperation system. The MoU also involves solving trade and investment problems and helping the private sectors in both countries to establish trade partnerships and exchange relevant trade information, the statement added. Following the MOU signing, Abdullah underlined the importance of holding the first meeting of the newly-formed committee, particularly in light of ongoing economic reform measures taken by Egypt. New Zealand is Egypt's most important and largest trading partners during the current stage, he said, stressing the necessity of beefing up trade exchange in value-added products between Cairo and Wellington. For his part, amb. Riley stressed the necessity of boosting economic cooperation between the two countries. |
