Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr highlighted the importance of resolving the problem of inequality.
Inequality has negative impacts on the efforts aimed to reduce poverty and achieve the targets of sustainable development, Nasr said at a round-table meeting on inequality in the Middle East and North Africa on the sidelines of World Bank spring meetings in Washington. The problem of inequality, she went on to say, leads to problems at the social level, including the deterioration of education, increasing the poverty and unemployment rates in addition to social inequality, particularly among children. Meanwhile, Nasr pointed out to efforts exerted by Egypt to end social and economic inequality through the policies it adopts to empower the youth and women and providing them with more job opportunities. The minister added that the government focuses its development efforts in the poorest areas, especially in Upper Egypt. |
