Trade and Industry Minister Tareq Qabil has said that the political leadership in Egypt is keen on securing social protection for the limited income brackets, while reforming the economy.
Huge national projects implemented over the past four years have sure contributed to developing the infrastructure and reducing unemployment rates, Qabil said in an interview with Al Haya channel evening. He touched upon "daring" decisions made over the past four years, atop of which the flotation of the pound, which helped reduce the inflation rate to 14 percent. He made it clear that the unemployment rate also dropped from 13.9 to 11.3 percent in that period. More than 5,000 kilometers of roads have been established and ports have been upgraded, the minister said. Foreign direct investments, Suez Canal revenues, tourism and remittances of expats are the main source of dollars in Egypt, Qabil said. |
