Chairmen of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Issa Murad, and Amman Chamber of Industry, Ziyad Homsi, stressed the importance of developing Jordan's economic ties with South Africa and increasing trade exchange.
The remarks came during two separate meetings that brought together the Jordanian trade and industry delegation, currently visiting South Africa, with the Johannesburg and Pretoria chambers of commerce and industry. . During talks, Murad and Homsi stressed the need to look into solutions for customs obstacles that impede the swift flow of Jordanian commodities to the South African market. The discussions were an important opportunity to discuss the potential access to the African market, especially the countries of Namibia, Mozambique and Angola, and to explore export prospects in the peninsula, they pointed out. On Jordan's investor attractiveness, the two officials cited its lucrative privileges, foremost of which the country's security and stability amid the volatile region as well as its geographical location as a gateway to the region's countries. For their part, presidents of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Johannesburg Hermann Trdmn and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pretoria Salim Youssef stressed the importance of stability in Jordan as a catalyst for trade and investment cooperation, and welcomed participation in future projects of the region's reconstruction. On the sidelines of the meetings, the two sides signed cooperation agreements aimed to create a joint framework to promote mutually beneficial industrial and commercial interests and exchange business delegations' visits.The accords also aim to boost mutual trade and investment and the exchange of publications on issues of common interest. |
