The New & Renewable Energy Authority and Spain's TSK company signed a contract to set up a 26 MW photovoltaic plant in Kom Ombo in Aswan, Upper Egypt, at a total value of 20 million euros.
Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker attended the signing ceremony. The plant will be built over an area of 500,000 square meters and is expected to produce 53,000 megawatt-hour annually (equivalent to 12,000 tons of fuel), said CEO of the authority Mohamed el Khayat. The plant will be funded by the French Agency for Development through a 40-million-euro soft loan. The rest of the loan will be channeled to financing other energy projects. |
