Minister of Planning Hala el Saeed stressed the importance of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB Group) 44th Annual Board of Governors Meeting in due to kick off in Marrakesh, Morocco.
In a statement 3/4/2019, Saeed said this round of talks offers a good opportunity for decision makers to discuss IsDB Group activities, services and initiatives and development issues and challenges facing the IsDB member states. More than 2,000 participants will take part in the event which will witness the inking of a number of new agreements with Morocco and a number of IsDB member states. On the sidelines of the meeting, Saeed will participate in a discussion on national efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In August, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli appointed Saeed as Egypt's governor in the IsDB council. The main theme of this year’s Annual Meeting, Transformation in a changing world: the road to the SDGs, embodies the IsDB’s belief that the traditional model of development is broken and there needs to be a notable shift to a new strategy in order to achieve the SDGs. As a result, all events at the three-day meeting will explore the four core pillars of the President’s Five-Year Plan: Public-Private Partnerships; Science, Technology and Innovation (STI); Global Value Chain and Islamic Finance. The Annual Meeting, held by Bandar Hajjar, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group and the Board of Governors, will discuss development issues and institutional matters. Alongside the IsDB Group meetings, the event will also feature a series of side events that explore the four core pillars of the Presidents’ Five-Year Plan. Some of these side events include: Science, Technology and Innovation - fostering action for all; How Indigenous Youth Integrate Traditional Knowledge, Innovation and Technology; and Building Resilience for Effective Transformation. |
