A report said that the budget of Egypt’s parliament will be increased by EGP 151 million in the new fiscal year, which begins on 1 July, to EGP 1.551 billion ($93 million).
Hussein Eissa, the head of parliament’s budget committee, said the report was approved in a meeting on Monday morning. “The budget will be increased by EGP 151 million, or from EGP 1.4 billion in 2018/19 to EGP 1.551 billion in 2019/20,” said Hussein, adding that “the increase is necessary to cover parliament’s rising costs, which include foreign visits, the fees of consultancy services, and salaries of employees.” Hussein said “parliament did a lot in last years to save costs in the form of cutting printing fees and reducing the number of consultants.” “But the costs of foreign visits which serve Egypt’s interests and the costs of visits of parliamentary committees have also increased,” said Eissa. Egypt parliament is currently preparing a report about the state budget for the coming fiscal year. The report is expected to be discussed and voted on in plenary sessions at the end of this mont |
