Trade Minister, Iraqi Parliamentary Delegation Discuss Mutual Cooperation

n the mutual understandings, the two sides agreed to start the "door to door" goods transport system of perishable and petroleum products, exempt the Iraqi goods imported through Aqaba port of 75% of the handling fees, and allow the two countries' trucks to enter empty without the need for permits.

On concrete steps, they also agreed to activate the decision of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, adopted in 2017, to exempt a list of Jordanian products, and to expedite the establishment of the Joint Jordanian-Iraqi Economic City,which represents an opportunity to build joint industrial integration and contribute to the sustainable economic development in the two countries.

Preparations are under way to complete the necessary legal procedures to grant the Joint Economic City the privileges, exemptions and additional incentives for all economic activities to be established in the city, based on the relevant legislation.

As for the energy sector, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of energy between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Iraqi Oil Ministry to re-export 10 thousand barrels per day of Kirkuk oil to Jordan, in addition to cooperation in the field of joint electrical connection.
