Hammouri also expressed hope to quickly wrap up the executive procedures for establishing the joint Jordanian-Iraqi economic city, which is an opportunity to build reciprocal industrial and commercial investment integration.
On the city's privileges, he said its products and industries will be granted the exemptions of the free trade agreements (FTA) signed by Jordan, adding this project will contribute to attracting foreign investments, achieve the desired sustainable economic development, and create job opportunities. Jordan, he said, harnesses all its capabilities, expertise and efforts in the reconstruction of Iraq and development of Iraqi cadres' capabilities in many areas, adding the Iraqi side has received a clear training plan, which will be implemented in accordance with mechanisms agreed upon between the concerned authorities in both countries. Hammouri noted Jordan will participate by a high-level delegation from the public and private sectors in the 46th session of the Baghdad International Fair, which will be held in Baghdad during the period from 1 to 11 November, 2019. For his part, the Iraqi minister said his country is also looking forward to enhancing bilateral cooperation with Jordan in all fields, especially in the economic area, driven by the great opportunities available in both countries. The continuous follow-up to the implementation of what has been and agreed upon will accelerate the procedures and give a strong impetus to support joint economic cooperation, he noted, adding the continued efforts to remove all obstacles to trade exchange and to stimulate the private sector aim to take advantage of the opportunities made available by the joint agreements. |
