Finance Minister Mohamed Mait said the ministry works on selling stagnant goods at all ports under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
He said the sales of such stagnant goods hit EGP 1.3 billion since January 2020. The Egyptian Customs Authority’s department of stagnant goods has managed to get rid of 99% of dangerous stagnant goods at ports safely so far. Joint committees of the Customs Authority, the General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOEIC), the National Food Safety Authority and the Environment Ministry work on taking all legal procedures to get rid of all expired goods and dangerous and prohibited materials immediately, the minister added. |
