Egypt's engineering exports reached around $1.64 billion during the first five months of 2023, 0.7 percent higher than the same period last year, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir stated on the sidelines of the Egypt Power Show.
Samir revealed that Egypt's engineering exports surged nearly 10 percent to $3.836 billion in 2022 from $3.497 billion in 2021. Egypt Power Show is organized by the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC) and is being attended by over 30 international buyers. The major categories of engineering exports include machinery and equipment, transportation equipment, scientific and measuring instruments, and engineering services. At the same time, Egyptian electrical industry exports surged 47.5 percent to $158 million during the first five months of 2023, compared to $107 million in the same period last year. In 2022, electrical exports reached $317 million, up from $268 million in 2021. Egypt's non-oil merchandise exports inched up by $124.8 million YoY to about $12.9 billion. during the first half (H1) of the fiscal year (FY) 2022/23. (between July and December 2022). |
