Egypt's Minister of Industry has directed applying L.E. 8,000 per ton as export fees on scrap copper exports. The development was necessitated to close backdoors of smuggling raw copper abroad depriving the country's metallic and electric industries from an alimentary component. A decree of the Minister on the issue also provided for applying L.E. 3,000 per ton as export fees on lead scrap, L.E. 2,500 per ton as export fee on aluminum scrap and L.E. 650 per ton as export fee on iron scrap. Decree was greatly welcomed by national industry executives since long suffering from such unfair acts.
