Industry and Foreign Trade Minister Hatem Saleh said on 19/11/2012 that the government is keen to attract more Japanese investments to Egypt and to encourage them to boost production. This came during Saleh’s talks with Japanese Ambassador in Cairo Norihiro Okuda. Saleh added that the talks included the arrangements for holding the Arab-Japanese businessmen forum next month in Tokyo which is considered a great chance for expanding economic cooperation between Egypt and Japan in particular and with the western states in general. The talks dealt with problems facing the Japanese firms operating in Egypt as well. The two parties reached a satisfactory solutions concerning Egypt's ban on importing foodstuffs from Japan following the catastrophe of the nuclear reactor. The ministers stressed the need to make use of the preferential system which gives several advantages to Egyptian investors.
