The UAE Ambassador to Lebanon H.E Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, met here with the UN Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Representative, Ross Mountain.
The meeting touched on developments in the Lebanese arena, particularly the Syrian influx and its ramifications. The UAE Ambassador emphasised the importance of coordination between the Office for Humanitarian and Development Aid (OHDA) at the UAE embassy in Beirut and the UN about the assistance packages provided by donors in the UAE to Lebanon and to the displaced Syrians. He added that the next stage will witness a significant progress in the aid programme. Ross Mountain lauded the humanitarian role played by the UAE and said the UN was ready to provide support to OHDA's plans and humanitarian programmes. He also said he will offer his expertise to the joint humanitarian programmes between the embassy and the UN. Ross Mountain briefed the UAE Ambassador about the Lebanon Crisis Response Plan (LCRP), which was developed in collaboration with the Lebanese government. |
