Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker discussed with Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Alain Pilloux means of boosting cooperation between the bank and Egypt’s electricity sector.
Shaker pointed out to the bank’s participation in financing electricity projects in Egypt; out of its confidence in the sector’s ability to run its projects in the country, the Ministry of Electricity said in a statement. The minister highlighted the great challenges that faced Egypt before in the electricity field, describing what has been achieved as “a miracle”, citing the electricity sector’s success in adding more than 2,500 megawatts to the national power grid. Shaker also asserted the importance attached by the electricity sector to improving and developing all services. Meanwhile, the EBRD vice president lauded the achievements made by Egypt’s sector of electricity and renewable energy in a short period of time. He added that the bank is willing to foster its cooperation with Egypt in the fields of electricity and renewable energy. |
