Global Finance magazine has released the names of Central Bank Governors who earned the highest grades, “A+”, “A” or “A-”, in the Central Banker Report Cards 2022.
Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer earned an “A-” grade along with the central bank governors of Bulgaria, Colombia, Georgia, Mauritius, Morocco, New Zealand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay. Iceland's central bank governor Asgeir Jonsson earned an “A+” grade in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards. Those earning an “A” grade were the central bank governors of Brazil, China, India, Israel, Paraguay, Peru, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Grades are based on an “A” to “F” scale for success in areas such as inflation control, economic growth goals, currency stability and interest rate management. (“A” represents an excellent performance down through “F” for outright failure.) The Central Banker Report Cards, published annually by Global Finance since 1994, grade the central bank governors of 96 key countries, territories and districts including the European Union, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States and the Central Bank of West African States. |
