Trading at the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) hit record levels in 2022, topping EGP 1 trillion for the first time in its history, EGX Chairman Rami El-Dokany said.
In a press conference on EGX 2022 recap, Dokany noted that the EGX saw trading estimated at EGP 1.094 trillion in 2022. The official added that 2022 also witnessed the largest number of transactions made in a single day in EGX history with 109,000 operations. The market capital registered its highest level ever in 2022 when it recorded EGP 961 billion at the end of the year, representing 12.3 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), Dokany said. The total number of transactions during 2022 hit 11 million, compared to 11.4 million in 2021, he added. |
