Lagarde: IMF Continues Talks on Egypt’s Loan

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde asserted in statements on the sidelines of the annual meetings in Washington on 20/4/2013 that the fund along with other international donors will continue the work to support the Egyptian people.

Lagarde said: "We have been saying many times it will be for next week, so I would rather not plan for any completion or conclusion of our negotiations." She also said: "I know that the teams have met here, and saw the Egyptian minister and I will seeing him again. So, I hope we continue the progress we have made.

It is a task and we will not give up. We will not leave the table. We have to continue the work and we have to be of support to the Egyptian population. We'll do everything we can." Lagarde said: "We cannot be the only one to do that. It will take international support and international donors to also help Egypt."
